PETALING JAYA, 24 FEBRUARY, 2012: Tan Sri Vincent Tan has announced his retirement from an active corporate role in diversified conglomerate Berjaya Corp Bhd (BCorp), which he founded and controlled.
The tycoon has also relinquished his position as chairman of BCorp, however, he will remain as the controlling shareholder of BCorp.
“My giving up the chairmanship and active day-to-day involvement with the Berjaya group’s business will allow me to devote more of my time and energy to promoting more charitable and social programs and initiatives,” said Tan, who turned 60 yesterday, in a statement.
Tan’s eldest son Datuk Robin Tan, who took over as BCorp’s chief executive officer from his father in January last year, will concurrently hold the position of chairman and CEO of the company with immediate effect for an interim period.
