Pos Malaysia Unit To Buy 2 Carrier Vessels For US$32.9 Mln

KUALA LUMPUR – PNSL Bhd has entered into two memoranda of understanding to acquire a second-hand Kamsarmax bulk carrier vessel called Golden Trader 1, and a second-hand Post-Panamax bulk carrier vessel, Trans Nanjing, for a total value of US$32.9 million.

PNSL is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Pos Logistics Bhd, which in turn is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Pos Malaysia Bhd.

In a filing to Bursa Malaysia today, Pos Malaysia said PNSL was awarded two 10-year contracts by TNB Fuel Services Sdn Bhd on July 19, 2016 for the latter to transport coal from various countries into ports in Malaysia.

“These contracts value cumulatively amount to US$194 million for the whole 10-year period. PNSL is currently utilising chartered vessels to transport the coal prior to the acquisition of these two used vessels,” it said.
