KUALA LUMPUR: It is important to include non-politicians and professionals in the next Cabinet line-up to represent the Chinese community.Council of Former Parliamentarians Malaysia (Mubarak) president Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahman said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razakmust consider appointing these people if MCA was adamant on not taking up any government positions.
“We are extremely worried about MCA not wanting to take-up government posts. The Government must consider appointing professionals or academics with great ideas to the Cabinet,” Abdul Aziz told reporters at a round table conference themed “Malaysian Politics and Government post GE13” at Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC), here, yesterday.
MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek has been reported as saying that the party would not be taking-up any government posts due to its poor performance in the 13th general election.
Abdul Aziz also urged the Government not to appoint those who had lost in the election as senators to continue serving in the Cabinet.
“For those who had lost, let them take a rest. It would be a bad move if the Government decides to include them in the Cabinet,” he said.
Abdul Aziz also lambasted Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for not accepting the election results and urged him to carry on his duty as the Opposition leader.
