KUALA LUMPUR: Persiapan awal untuk merawat bayi yang menghidap jantung bermasalah kini boleh dilakukan ketika dalam kandungan lagi.

Melalui ujian Fetus Ekokardiografi (penggunaan gelombang ultra-sound untuk mengkaji dan memaparkan tindakan jantung bayi) yang kini terdapat di Institut Jantung Negara (IJN), pakar jantung boleh mengesan sebarang masalah berkaitan jantung dan memberi nasihat kepada ibu bapa supaya membuat persiapan pembedahan selepas bayi itu lahir.

Ketua Jabatan Kardiologi Pediatrik Dr Hasri Samion berkata secara umumnya sebelum ini bayi akan menjalani imbasan ultrasound untuk tujuan kesihatan dan pengesanan penyakit.

"Jika didapati ada masalah berkaitan jantung dan perlunya pengesahan lanjut, bayi akan dirujuk kepada kami dan ujian menggunakan high-tech colour ultrasound machines itu akan dilakukan untuk mengesan penyakit sebenar.

"Ibu bapa kemudian akan disyorkan supaya ke mana-mana hospital yang menyediakan pembedahan kecemasan ke atas bayi atau yang mempunyai pakar pembedahan dalam hal ini," katanya.

Beliau berkata demikian ketika ditemui pemberita di majlis Perasmian Wad Melor 1 dan Wad Melor 2, Pusat Jantung Kanak-kanak dan Kongenital (PCHC) IJN oleh Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif IJN Tan Sri Dr Robaayah Zambahari di sini Khamis.

Dr Hasri berkata antara yang berkaitan jantung bermasalah ialah jantung berlubang, komplikasi jantung dan kongenital.

Beliau berkata hanya janin berusia 18 minggu dan ke atas boleh menjalani ujian itu.

Terdahulu pada di majlis itu, Dr Robaayah berkata dengan penambahbaikan dan naiktaraf wad kanak-kanak itu diharap dapat menambah jumlah pesakit yang mampu dirawat dengan lebih berkesan dan teratur.

Penambahbaikan itu melibatkan peningkatan jumlah katil dari 30 ke 52 katil untuk kedua-dua wad (Melor 1 dan Melor 2) di Bangunan Blok B Tingkat 5 pusat rawatan jantung negara itu.
