BUTTERWORTH: Sembilan wanita antara 22 individu Islam yang ditahan kerana mengambil minuman keras di premis hiburan di Seberang Jaya dan Perai di sini awal pagi tadi.

 

Wanita tersebut turut merupakan pelayan pelangan (GRO) di premis berkenaan.

Ketua Pegawai Penguatkuasa Jabatan Agama Islam Pulau Pinang (JAIPP), Khairul Azman Azizan berkata kesemua mereka disiasat menurut Seksyen 19 Enakmen Jenayah Syariah Pulau Pinang Kesalahan 1996 kerana menggunakan apa-apa minuman yang memabukkan di tempat awam yang jika sabit kesalahan boleh didenda RM3,000 atau dua tahun penjara atau kedua-duanya.

Sembilan wanita itu juga disiasat menurut Seksyen 47/35 kerana menggalakkan kegiatan maksiat dan boleh dikenakan denda RM5,000 atau tiga tahun penjara atau kedua-duanya jika sabit kesalahan, katanya.

Beliau berkata kesemua mereka dibebaskan selepas diambil keterangan.

Khairul Azman berkata JAIPP turut mengeluar sembilan notis kepada sembilan pasangan Islam yang berkelakuan tidak senonoh di tempat awam di Pantai Bersih, yang boleh didenda RM1,000 atau penjara tidak melebihi enam bulan atau kedua-duanya.
