KOTA BHARU: A housewife accused of slashing the neck of her two-month-old baby to death with a kitchen knife, in her home in Kuarters Jurutera, Kem Desa Pahlawan in Kok Lanas, earlier this month was charged in the Magistrate's Court here yesterday.
As the charge was read before her by Magistrate Mohd. Azrul Muhammad Hashimi, the accused, Fadilah Mohd. Zain, 32, simply nodded in acknowledgement.
However, Kosmo! reported no plea was recorded from the woman and she apparently looked composed during the hearing.
Also present in court to hear the proceedings was Fadilah’s husband and his family.
When the proceedings adjourned for about 20 minutes, the mood in court immediately turned into an emotional affair as Fadilah’s family shed tears, while her two remaining children aged 6 and 11, embraced their mother.
Fadilah was accused of murdering Nur Areesa Sofea Jiry at their home between 1pm and 2pm on February 4, and her charge under Section 302 of the Penal Code, carries the death sentence upon conviction.
