One Unforgettable Royal Minute For Comedian Harith Iskander

KUALA LUMPUR: No words could describe the feelings that popular stand-up comedian Harith Iskander felt when he met the Prince of Wales and his wife the Duchess of Cornwall recently.

The funnyman said that he had never in his life envisioned being able to meet Prince Charles and wife Camilla in the flesh, let alone chat with them, during their visit to Malaysia.

In a recent news report he said: “I was actually invited to attend the Royal Gala Dinner in Kuala Lumpur but I had a performing commitment in Singapore at the time, so I unfortunately had to decline the invitation.”

“But when I was also invited to the same event in Penang, I just couldn’t say no to the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”

“The face-to-face chat for a minute was truly a historical and proud moment in my life,” he said.

Harith added that he got to slip in topics in the conversation that touched on the universality of comedy in transcending cultures and borders and even shared a light-hearted moment in exchanging thoughts on their common love for Monty Python.

“What I really admired about him was that he really paid attention and engaged with me in a full conversation for that whole minute that we were together.”

“Think about it. The event had close to 80 people in attendance and Prince Charles was gracious enough to extend at least a minute of his time to properly talk to each person.”

“Now that’s a distinct quality of a true prince,” he said.
