[Video] Guess Which Video Is Number One In YouTube’s Top 10 List In 2017?

Millions of videos are uploaded each year on YouTube with new videos going viral almost every week online – and 2017 is no exception.

The video-sharing platform announced its top 10 videos garnered more than 633 million views collectively, up by 83 million compared to last year’s list.

And their top 10 trending videos which YouTube says were compiled based on a combination of views, likes, comments, shares, and more — lasted over 40 million hours on Google’s video platform.

YouTube split it into two categories, one for general content – which include favourite moments like the BBC dad, and one for music videos, in which the number one finally knocked out 'Gangnam Style’s' five-year reign.

10. Children interrupt BBC News interview

When dad professor Robert E Kelly appeared on BBC World, his cute kids stole the show on March 10 that the video garnered over 25 million views.

"Is this the kinda thing that goes viral and gets weird?" he tweeted in response to the viral video clip.


9. In a Heartbeat

The touching story about a schoolboy in love made by Beth David and Esteban Bravo was viewed  32 million when it was uploaded last July 31.

"My favorite thing about In a Heartbeat is the way that it perfectly illustrates that we cant control our hearts, we don't chose who we love," one Twitter user described.

8. history of the entire world, i guess

Created by musician Bill Wurtz, the video published on May 10 gained 35.1 million views. 

In it, Wurtz narrates an abridged history of the universe in his signature style of non-sequitur humor, catchy melodies and colourful video effects.

7. A Bad Lip Reading of Donald Trump’s inauguration

Uploaded on January 25, many were amused by the clip some went as far as to say "Holy crap, that nearly killed me."

The video was viewed by 35.1 million people.

6. Lady Gaga’s Super Bowl Half Time Show

Lady Gaga's Super Bowl half time show from the roof of NRG Stadium on February 5 gained 37.1 million viewers.

She delivered a heartfelt rendition of "God Bless America" that segued into the Woody Guthrie folk classic "This Land Is Your Land".

5. Ed Sheeran’s Carpool Karaoke

Of all the renditions of the Late Late Show with James Corden, Ed Sheeran's Carpool Karaoke proved to be the popular choice.

The British singer's belting out his tunes from 'Shape of You' to 'Thinking Out Loud', to Justin Bieber's 'Love Yourself' on June 6 attracted 39.9 million viewers.

4. Darci Lynne’s America’s Got Talent audition

The young ventriloquist performer who wowed judgest at season twelve of the NBC competition show America's Got Talent's audition gets 41.6 million views.

The 12-year-old Oklahoma-native and her puppet, Petunia, took home $1million after over 52 million votes were cast in the contest.

3. Ping Pong Trick Shots

Dude Perfect's impressive tricks for ping pong on April 3 became the third watched video with 93.5 million views.

Following his feat, many have requested for Ping Pong trick shots 4.

2. Kyle Hanagami’s Shape of You choreography

Choreographer from Los Angeles Kyle Hanagami dancing to Ed Sheeran's hit song on January 13, racked up 119 million views, in second place.

"Oh My God! I just got an email from Time Magazine and YouTube because my class video to Shape Of You is the #2 trending video for 2017 and the most viewed choreography video on YouTube EVER. Thank you to all of you guys for watching and sharing my work!," he wrote on Twitter.

1. The Mask Singer

Surprisingly, Thai singing competition programme, The Mask Singer's post on June 1 clinched the number one spot with 182.1 million views.

"I speak no Thai languages and the lyrics, when translated into English, don't seem at melodic, but this is actually beautiful and to me transcends all language barriers," one user commented.

10. Enrique Iglesias – SUBEME LA RADIO ft. Descemer Bueno, Zion & Lennox

Enrique Iglesias takes the 10th spot with 'Súbeme la Radio'  which features the Puerto Rican duo Zion & Lennox and the Cuban singer Descemer Bueno.

The video racked up 863.6 million views.

9. DJ Khaled – I’m the One ft. Justin Bieber, Quavo, Chance the Rapper, Lil Wayne

DJ Khaled's summer tune not only became the Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hit but the video posted on April 28 garnered 869.5 million views

The artiste earlier explained that he was determined to hit up some of the biggest names in music for the tune, and when he pulled it off, guess it totally paid off.

8. Jason Derulo – Swalla ft. Nicki Minaj & Ty Dolla $ign

Jason Derulo's catchy tune 'Swalla' was the lead single from his new album and the video uploaded in March gained 917 million views.

Aside 297 million streams on Spotify, Rolling Stone highlights that 'Swalla' seems destined to add to Derulo's plaque collection.

7. El Amante – Nicky Jam

The Puerto Rican singer who released his fourth single from his seventh studio album Fénix on January 15, garnered 97.3 million views with his song El Amante (The Lover).

In the video Nicky serenades his girl from the neighbourhood street in what becomes a bona fide block party.

6. Chris Jeday – Ahora Dice ft. J. Balvin, Ozuna, Arcángel

Another Puerto Rican pop singer/songwriter who impressively scores 1 billion views for his popular 2017 single 'Ahore Dice'. 

Thanks to the hit, Chris's music has also topped the Billboard Latin charts.

5. Bruno Mars – That’s What I Like

The video by the pop star posted on March 1 has gained 1.1 billion views but that's not the only record the song made.

The song held at No. 1 for four weeks on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart (Bruno’s first), sold 879,000 digital downloads to date and earned 256.6 million on-demand streams in the U.S., according to Nielsen Music.

4. Maluma – Felices los 

Colombian singer and songwriter Maluma has dominated 2017 with his infectious beats, signature look and the way he heats up the screen, according to E!.

His video has also racked up 1.2 billion views.

3. J Balvin, Willy William – Mi Gente

More Latino domination as J Balvin, Colombian reggaeton singer claims the number three spot with his video in June that has been viewed 1.4 billion times.

"The tune sticks in my mind every time I listen it... I'm in love with the song," a user wrote, which likely explains the billions of views.

2. Ed Sheeran – Shape of You

Caught in between Latino domination, the British ginger-haired singer lands in the second spot with his equally infectious tune.

The video published January 30 has received 2.8 billion views.

 1. Luis Fonsi – Despacito ft. Daddy Yankee

This comes as no surprise as the video for the huge hit 'Despacito' tops YouTube's year-end rankings of the most popular music videos of 2017.

The song was number one in 47 countries and the video is watched 4.5 billion times across the world, further proving Latin songs have really dominated this year worldwide.
