In the long history of football, there have been countless streakers and pitch invaders, who used the glitz and glamour of professional football as their stepping stone to chase after their own 15 minutes of fame.

But how many times have you heard of a pitch invader who used a car?

That's exactly what happened in an U18 game between Al-Jazeera and Shabab Al-Ahly in the United Arab Emirates, when a crazy driver invaded the pitch using his Volkswagen Beetle.

Due to the wayward vehicle, the referee had no choice but to stop the game as the players had to run around avoiding the car.

The driver of the car then proceeded to drive in circles around the pitch while loudly honking his horn.

The footage was captured by Sharjah Sports TV and widely shared on social media with many leaving amusing comments.

"Maybe he was attending a wedding but received the wrong location,” one Twitter user said.

"Maybe now they will place radars on the field,” chimed in another.

Fortunately, no one was injured from the bizarre stunt. And while it is unknown whether the man behind the wheels had been arrested for his action, UAE news sites report the home team Al-Jazeera were fined €11,500 (RM55,450).
