FOUR people have been killed in a shooting at Manila's international airport, the official Philippines News Agency reported Friday.
The dead include Ukol Talumpa, the mayor of a town in the southern Philippines, and his wife, the news agency reported on its website.
The shooting took place around 11:20 a.m. in Terminal 3 of Ninoy Aquino International Airport, PNA said.
CNN affiliate ABS-CBN cited Jose Angel Honrado, the general manager of Manila International Airport Authority, as saying that Talumpa and several other people were shot at by unidentified gunmen at the loading bay area of Terminal 3, causing panic among people nearby.
PNA reported that Talumpa, the mayor of Labangan, had previously survived an assassination attempt in Manila in November 2010 and a grenade attack in September 2012 in Zamboanga del Sur.
Labangan is located in Zamboanga del Sur, on the southern island of Mindanao.
