23 Illegals, Including Toddler, Nabbed By S'gor Immigration Dept At Construction Sites

KUALA SELANGOR: Twenty-three illegal foreigners, including a two-year-old girl, were arrested by the Selangor Immigration Department at two rumah kongsi located in construction sites at Bandar Puncak Alam.

In an early morning raid today, the foreigners were brought to the department’s enforcement office in Shah Alam to be investigated after the three-hour operation, conducted with the National Registration Department enforcement division.

Selangor Immigration Department enforcement chief James Lee said the raid, the first to be carried out at construction sites this year, came following complaints of public nuisance from residents nearby and after a stakeout.

A total of 99 foreigners were checked during the operation, which began at 1am.

“All of them, 18 men, 4 women and a toddler, are from Bangladesh, Indonesia and Myanmar. They are aged between 23 and 45. They were found to have flouted immigration laws. Seventeen of them were arrested under Section 6 (1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for invalid passes and six others under Section 15(1)(c) for overstaying,” said Lee.
