PM Says Johor's Rapid Development Proves That Gov't Delivers On Pledges

ISKANDAR PUTERI: The government does not sell hopes or promises to the people, but instead delivers on what it says it will do, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said today.

"The government, which is led by us today, does not need to sell hopes, and we do not need to sell promises. We have actually delivered. We are not promising (things), we are actually delivering.

"We will deliver much more because of many factors. Johor (in particular) will experience other phases of astounding development," Najib said when launching the Progressive Johor Expo in Dataran Mahkota, Kota Iskandar, Iskandar Puteri here.

The Prime Minister said that the Expo is a platform to showcase the successes, developments and many things in store for Johor’s economy.

He said among the factors that have contributed to Johor's success are the close cooperation between the federal and state governments; and initiatives undertaken by the Sultan of Johor Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, who has greatly contributed to the state’s rapid development.

Najib said among the unique aspects of Johor's government is the empowerment it gives to District Officers and District Action Councils. He said that these district-level entities do not only rely on what is provided by federal ministries, and this is in accordance with the state government's move to develop each district based on their respective niche sectors.
