Rahman Dahlan Appoints Counsel To Take Legal Action Against Rafizi

KUALA LUMPUR -- Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan has appointed a counsel to exhaust all legal means against Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) vice- president, Rafizi Ramli.

In a statement, Abdul Rahman said the action was taken to put Rafizi's continuous slandering to rest.

"On Monday, Rafizi Ramli, vice-president of PKR convened a press conference and accused me of appointing my brother as the main contractor of Expo Negaraku.

"At that press conference, Rafizi had confidently asserted that he had undertaken thorough research and various investigations, the result of which proved that, Raslan Dahlan, the CEO of PICO Integrated Exhibits (M) Sdn Bhd was indeed my brother.

"Like countless other statements by Rafizi, this is another blatant lie that does not befit his position as a Member of Parliament. He was so self-assured and buoyant when making this allegation. After repeating the allegation nine times, Rafizi must have believed his own lie," he said.

Rafizi had in a news report on Monday, alleged that a huge government contract was awarded to a company headed by Abdul Rahman's sibling.

The Pandan MP was later forced to remove his post after finding out that the Raslan Dahlan he was referring to was not Abdul Rahman’s elder brother.

In the statement, Abdul Rahman claimed that Rafizi's body language, demeanour and intonation during the press conference were to convince viewers of his slanderous allegation against him.

Abdul Rahman said he had evidence in his possession that Rafizi had contacted Raslan Dahlan immediately after his press conference via Facebook, asking whether Raslan was actually Abdul Rahman's brother.

"This shows that Rafizi was unsure of the facts. Nonetheless, for the sake of his political ambitions, he went on to defame me," he said.

Abdul Rahman said he was also aggrieved by the fact that Rafizi accused Economic Planning Unit (EPU) officers of leaking the incorrect information in an attempt to create strife between the EPU officers and him.
