[Video] What Mahathir Said About Kit Siang In The Past Reveals His True Intentions Today

There is only one way to interpret the old footage of a speech given by former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohammad.

Perhaps in retrospect, it was probably delivered to a Malay-only audience in a closed event during a different political era but the fact remains that no political leader today can expect to remain credible if they are caught on video delivering such a racist rant. news portal recently shared the old recording on its Twitter feed this week, reminding Malaysians that Mahathir and his new found ally, Lim Kit Siang were once bitter enemies.

"This is how the chairman of PPBM delivers his speech? How racist is this.

"In Mahathir's own words, spoken by him," the tweet shared by reads.

The last part of the recording also shows a partial footage of Mahathir's famous 'Melayu Muda Lupa' speech at the UMNO general assembly in 2001.

The posting refers to the viral video of the former premiere's speech from over a decade ago which was first reported by Utusan Malaysia in December last year after Mahathir openly flaunted his attendance at the DAP national convention.

Today, Mahathir and Kit Siang sit side by side at Pakatan Harapan rallies and ceramahs and support each other when attacked by Mahathir's former party members in Barisan Nasional.

Given the current scenario, one can only marvel at how Mahathir can literally hold hands with Kit Siang after uttering those racist views about him with such conviction in the past, when he raised fear-mongering to new heights as he warned that Malays will be oppressed if Kit Siang becomes prime minister.

"If he fills up all the government departments with Chinese employees, won't they use their influence to look after their own interests?

"If we look at the history of Malaysia, the Chinese today have more power than when we first achieved Independence," he added that during those days, the Chinese dared not even stake their claim in this country.

He went on to warn Malay voters that infighting among themselves can only weaken their dominance and will allow the Chinese to seize power. Does that warning sound familiar?

Today, Mahathir is again raising the spectre of Chinese domination of Malaysia, except this time around he is blaming Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak for selling Malaysia to investors from China.

Chief among Mahathir's grievances of Najib selling out to China has to do with Proton which China’s Geely Automobile Holdings bought over last year. The takeover is still causing aftershocks and Mahathir is hoping to stir controversy by scaring Malay voters that it is a new form of Chinese domination over Malays.

MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai had also called Mahathir's bluff on playing politics with Malaysia-China relations recently in front of the Chinese ambassador to Malaysia.

He explained how Mahathir’s ‘Chinese takeover’ and ‘colonising Malaysia’ remarks in a viral video where Mahathir visited the Malaysia-China Kuantan Industrial Park (MCKIP) and referred to it as Kuantan's 'Great Wall of China' were blatantly false and meant to instigate unfounded fears among Malaysians, StarTV reports.
