Liow To Guan Eng : Just Answer The Tunnel Issues

Filepic: BernamaFilepic: BernamaSEPANG: MCA President Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai wants Penang chief minister Lim Guan Eng to stop running away and answer the questions posed by MCA deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong on the controversial Penang undersea tunnel issue.

He said Lim should not divert from the issue and questions raised by Wee as it was crucial that all doubts on the tunnel project be answered.

"So there's no need to run away from this debate by giving excuses of his position as a Chief Minister, and that he cannot debate with the person who revealed the question, one who represents the rakyat.

"Everybody can see that he (Lim) is running away from the debate. He is actually looking for excuses now that he is unable to provide answers to the tunnel questions," he told a press conference after unveiling the new KLIA Ekspres train, here, today.

Last week, Wee had challenged Lim, who is also DAP secretary-general, to challenge him to a debate on the Penang undersea tunnel.

Lim, however, declined the challenge, saying he would only debate the issue with MCA president, as it was only fitting, based on the principle of political protocol.

On a separate matter, Liow also said the unity of MCA Johor was unquestionable as the party and the people in the state continue to be united to ensure Barisan Nasional secured a two-thirds majority win.

"MCA is doing well here and people are together. We are ready to face the challenges in the general election to help Barisan Nasional,”he said.
