EC Has Sold 5,468 Nomination Forms To Contest For Parliamentary And State Seats

PUTRAJAYA: As the 14th general election (GE14) nomination day draws closer, the Election Commission has sold 5,468 nomination forms to contest for the parliamentary and state seats to date.

According to the EC corporate communications unit, 1,836 nomination forms had been sold for parliamentary seats and 3,632 for the state seats.

“Sabah and Labuan recorded the highest number of nomination forms being sold with 344 for parliamentary and 726 for state seats.

“Perlis has the lowest number of nomination forms sold for parliamentary seats with only 22 forms and 96 for state seats,” it said in a statement today.

Each form is priced at RM20.

A total of 84 forms were sold in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya for parliamentary seats; Selangor with 192 (parliament) and 465 (state); and Sarawak sold 248 forms for parliamentary seats.

In Johor, 234 nomination forms for parliament and 379 for state seats were sold; Pahang recorded 68 forms (parliament) and 179 (state); Kelantan 69 (parliament) and 194 (state), and Terengganu 64 (parliament) and 210 (state).

In Kedah, the number of nomination forms sold were 117 for parliamentary seats and 273 for state seats; Penang 133 (parliament) and 446 (state); Melaka 24 (parliament) and 108 (state), and Negri Sembilan 39 (parliament) and 136 (state).

The number of nomination forms bought from the EC’s headquarters here were 45 for parliamentary and 45 for state seats.

The EC has announced the key dates for GE14 including nomination date this Saturday (April 28) and polling date on May 9.

The number of parliamentary seats to be contested in GE14 stood at 222 and state seats at 505.
