American Idol To Perform Yuna's Song Tonight

Yuna_copyKUALA LUMPUR: For the first time, a tune from our very own singer will be making its way to American Idol which will be telecast this week.

Yuna (pic) had sung Shine Your Way, a song written for the soundtrack of DreamWorks' upcoming animated film, The Croods. She performed it with multi-platinum recording artist Owl City.

In American Idol season 12, the song will be rendered by the top 10 contestants as their first group performances during the result show.

It will be telecast on Saturday at 10.30pm on 8TV.

The upbeat tune is co-produced by Adam Young, Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard, who is best known for co-writing and producing songs for Michael Jackson, Alanis Morissette and No Doubt.

The movie is set to hit local screens on March 21.

Yuna is based in Los Angeles after inking a major label record deal with Verve Music Group in the United States, which has a stable of diverse artistes such as Diana Krall, Jamie Cullum, Herbie Hancock and Rod Stewart.

Bon Jovi will perform their lead single Because We Can and quadruple-platinum, Billboard chart-topper and American Idol winner Phillip Phillips will perform Gone, Gone, Gone, the second single from his debut album.

The top 10 finalists who include Lazaro Arbos, Janelle Arthur, Curtis Finch Jr, Candice Glover, Kree Harrison, Amber Holcomb, Paul Jolley, Angie Miller, Burnell Taylor and Devin Velez will perform Music of the American Idols during the performance show, which includes songs performed by any past Idol winner.

The show will be aired tomorrow at 10pm on 8TV. American Idol performance and result shows will also air on Star World (Astro channel 711) tonight and tomorrow at 6pm.
