PENANG, 9 MARCH, 2010: Former Balik Pulau Mara activity centre manager Radzuan Abd Razak pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here today to corruption.

Radzuan, 58, is alleged to have committed the offence on July 4, 2006, by selecting Yana One Entreprise, a company owned by his wife, Surayah Ismail Khan, to carry out renovation and maintenance of the centre's toilets for RM2,000.

If convicted, he could be jailed up to 20 years and fined RM10,000 or not less than five times the amount of graft involved, whichever is higher.

Judge Sitarun Nisa Abdul Aziz allowed bail of RM5,000 with one surety and fixed March 29 for mention.

Deputy public prosecutor from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Mohd Nur Lokman Samingan appeared for the prosecution while Radzuan was unrepresented.
