JOHOR BARU: Five men, including a close friend of Best 104 DJ Julie Diana Omar Shariff, have been detained over her abduction recently.

Johor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Dr Hashim Haron said that the five, aged between 15 and 21, were detained at various locations in the city at around 2am Tuesday.

They were brought to the Magistrate's court here to be remanded.

Two other suspects were arrested on Sunday. The authorities are also searching for four more suspects.

SAC Hashim said initial investigations revealed that the case was linked to robbery.

In the incident, Julie Diana, 34, was driving home to Kampung Sungai Danga when eight men in two cars blocked her car.

The men hijacked her vehicle, covered her face and tied her hands before driving her to an oil palm plantation near Ayer Bemban here.

They told her that they were instructed to kidnap, kill and burn her.

She was also told that someone had instructed them to carry out the deed because she refused to reciprocate his love.

The men later left her with some money, a bottle of water and her car before fleeing the scene with cash and valuables totaling RM20,000.
