Local Party Leader Remanded For Kidnapping Case

ALOR SETAR: A 52-year-old branch head of a political party has been arrested in connection with the abduction of a 13-year-old son of a dermatologist two weeks ago.

It is learnt that the suspect, who is a contractor, was nabbed on at about 6pm Saturday in Sungai Petani after attending a state level party meeting.

He has been remanded for five days until Oct 11 to facilitate investigations into the case.

The man was among six men who were picked up in connection with the case. The others were arrested on Sept 27 and Sept 28.

Police also recovered RM349,700 of the ransom money paid by the boy's father to the abductors.
