Datuk Mohamad Aziz (BN-Sri Gading) said, there were views that the Youth Parliament session could not be held in the existing Parliament Hall to maintain its decorum.

"As they (Youth Parliamentary members) are not elected representatives, it may not be appropriate for them to hold their proceedings there (in the renovated old hall) or here (the new hall).

"Parliament is only for members of parliament or the Senate. That is the recognition of this building. If they (Youth Parliament members) want to meet, find another place.

"This is the view of the wise ones," he said when interjecting in the winding-up of the 2013 Supply Bill debate on the youth and sports ministry here today.

Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia, who was chairing the proceeding, concurred with Mohamad on his proposal.

Mohamad said the practice of preserving the decorum of Parliament was also carried out in several other countries, including United Kingdom.

"Do not count on hoping to sit on the chairs of MPs, touching is not even allowed. But it is up to the Malaysian Parliament, whether to allow or not," he said.

Earlier, there were suggestions to hold the Youth Parliament session at the current hall.

Meanwhile, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek said, at the moment, a decision on the matter had not been made.

"It has not been decided if the Youth Parliament would be conducted, according to schedule and certainly, not here. In the past, there were suggestions to use the new hall when the old hall is upgraded. If permitted, what's wrong?

"Youth Parliament has been chosen as an educational process on ethics and techniques of debating and discussion. This is not a final decision, only a proposal," he said.
