KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Bintang area developed rapidly to become a leading commercial and tourist centre due to plans made by the Barisan Nasional (BN) government.
Federal Territories and Urban Wellbeing Minister Datuk Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin said the BN government would continue to implement mega development projects although the area is represented by the opposition.
Among the projects are Greater KL, Mass Rapid Transit (MRT), River of Live and Heritage Trail.
"This shows that the BN government never practices favoritism in distributing allocation for development although it is an opposition area," he said to a crowd of 2,000 residents at a gathering between Bukit Bintang Citizens Council and BN leaders here today.
The event was also attended by Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Mansor, MCA vice-president Datuk Seri Chor Chee Heung and People's Progressive Party (PPP) president Datuk M Kayveas.
Raja Nong Chik urged Bukit Bintang residents to vote for BN in the next general election so that more development could be implemented for their benefit.
