'MCA Will Not Sideline Sabah' |

KUALA LUMPUR: MCA President Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek made an assurance that Sabahans would not be sidelined, particularly in relation to their request for candidacy in the upcoming 13th General Election. Dr Chua said he had discussed regarding the number of MCA seats to be contested in the state, with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman."We will not sideline the requests from several Sabah candidates but pay them the due attention. However, we have not decided the matter yet and will announce it when the time comes," he said during the wrap up session of MCA's 59th Annual General Assembly at Wisma MCA, here Sunday. Speaking to reporters later, Dr Chua said he was satisfied with the overall attendance this year compared to last year, which showed a complete turn around with members passionate and ready for the coming election. The change was also felt by Najib when he spoke at the assembly earlier, noting that the party appeared to be fully geared up to face the battle of the coming general election, said Dr Chua. Today's assembly recorded 1,698 delegates or a 72.53 percent attendance. Meanwhile, MCA deputy president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said that MCA should interact more with the people, particularly with the younger generations, via social networks such as Twitter and Facebook, to increase support for the party.
