Bah_Tony2IPOH: The "my way or no way" policy being adopted by DAP Perak is expected to cost the party more resignations.

A party insider revealed that the recent resignation of Orang Asli activist lawyer Bah Tony or Amani William-Hunt Abdullah (pic) was just the tip of the iceberg, with more members expected to walk away.

"Though the party leaders keep repeating that the resignation of one person will have no impact on the party as a whole, it cannot be ignored either.

"This is a crucial time for political parties…with the general election looming and any resignation, especially by a prominent member, will have an impact," he said.

He said the "my way or no way" policy was upsetting many, and although most just tolerate it, sooner or later, it may have a negative impact on the party as a whole.

The Malay Mail reported yesterday that Bah Tony said he will not reconsider his decision and claimed he had no problems with any party leaders.

Perak DAP chief, Ngeh Koo Ham said the party respected Tony's decision and had no ill-feelings over the matter.

"There is nothing personal. It was his personal decision and we respect it," he said.

He also stressed that Tony's resignation will not have any negative impact on the party and they will continue working towards the general election.

"Members come and go…so it should not affect the party that much. It is also not true that his resignation was abrupt. He had spoken to me a few times before he made his decision," he said.

When asked if he would consent if Tony opted to join Parti Keadilan Rakyat, Ngeh refused to comment.

"We will cross that bridge when the time comes. This will be an inter-party relationship, therefore the national leadership will decide on it," he said.
