Its deputy minister, Datuk Maglin Dennis D'Cruz, said this was necessary so that the ministry could resolve the matter amicably and help raise the living standards of the community.
"We are currently doing research on how we can help the Indian communities in estates as we do not want them to be left behind the mainstream development," he told reporters after giving out hampers to 36 families in Bangkong estate at Pulau Carey, near here today.
Maglin said he would present the compilation of the report to his minister, Datuk Seri Utama Dr Rais Yatim before it could be brought to Cabinet level for further action.
He said he would also talk with the plantation companies which owned the estates to improve the basic infrastructure there for the betterment of the Indian community.
Meanwhile, a resident at Bangkong estate, M.Rajasekaran, 50, said many of those living in the estate were still earning below the national poverty line with monthly income ranging between RM500 to RM700.
He also urged the relevant authorities to resolve the flood problem at the estate which occurred whenever there was heavy rain and high tide.
