Mahdzir Denies Slapdash BN Development

He said that the 99 East project in Langkawi costing RM1.2 billion which began in 2007 was planned to be an international standard golf course.

“The project had been partially completed. The state government should continue and not stop it after winning the general election in 2008,” he said when met at FELDA Lubuk Merbau today where eight heads of cattle were sacrificed by Padang Terap Umno division to mark Aidiladha.

Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azizan Abdul Razak claimed that four projects implemented by the previous BN state government had forced his PAS administration into debt.

Mahdzir said the Langkawi project was a joint venture between Kedah Corporation Berhad (KCB) and Terra Monda Development Pte Ltd to develop 144 hectares land in Bukit Malut.

The land belonged to several parties and solely to Permodalan Kedah Berhad (PKB) while the the shrimp farming project was implemented by the state government and Finance Ministry when Tan Sri Osman Aroff was the mentri besar.

About Kedah Islamic Foundation which has to pay RM11 million for not transferring 15 lots of land in Tandop, he said the problem could be solved but it was not done.

The Pedu state assemblyman said Jerai International Park project which had been discontinued due to problems over the construction of housing which could be overcome.
