PETALING JAYA: A man was killed while another was seriously injured when a tipper lorry skidded, jumped over a divider and overturned on a Proton Perdana on the Federal Highway near the University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) here last night.
B. Delvandra Kumar, 41, who was driving the car, died at the scene while his male friend, who was seated in front, was seriously injured in the 9pm incident.
The empty tipper lorry was said to have skidded for about 50 metres after its gear box exploded, jumped over the divider and landed on the oncoming car.
Fire and rescue operations officer Zainal Aziz said a Toyota Harrier and Produa Kancil, which were trailing the Perdana, failed to stop in time and hit the lorry.
“Two men and a woman in the Harrier and a woman driving the Kancil were unhurt, but their vehicles were badly dented in the collision,” he added.
