wan_azizah1KUALA LUMPUR: A Parti Keadilan Rakyat member has called on party president Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to resign and pass the party reins to her deputy, Azmin Ali.

Amizan Mat, from the PKR Ampang branch, said there were many issues left unresolved for far too long.

He added that Wan Azizah was not competent to address them.

"Issues like the allegation of Pas Syura Council rejecting (opposition leader) Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as a prime ministerial candidate, Anwar's stand on Israel and lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community and the use of the word 'Allah' are unresolved.

"What is Wan Azizah doing to address them?"

He said Wan Azizah was also not fit to be a party president as she would not be contesting in the next general election.

"What kind of a party president does not contest a parliamentary seat? What's the point of being a president then?"

Wan Azizah was barred from contesting in a parliamentary seat after vacating her Permatang Pauh seat in July 2008 to make way for her husband, Anwar. She can, however, contest a state seat.

Amizan said Wan Azizah should not turn PKR into a family party.
