BANGI: Malaysia will host the 2013 Global Summit of Women (GSW) to provide a platform to explore practical strategies and best practices in advancing women’s economic opportunities around the world.

Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, wife of the prime minister, said the summit is jointly organized by GSW, the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (Miti) and the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development.

“In terms of participation, delegates from more than 70 countries have confirmed participation in this event,” she told a news conference after opening the 'Women Legacies Forum - Malaysia' at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), here, today.

Themed 'Women: Creating New Economies', the three-day event will be held in Kuala Lumpur beginning June 6.

Rosmah said the summit also attracted more than 80 speakers from all over the world to share their experiences on various diverse topics of interest to women in business.

“Women learn best from each other, and the summit provides an opportunity to jumpstart their business or career plans by sharing winning solutions,” she said.

The summit would also offer delegates a window into the Malaysian market through special sessions by Miti, she added.

Rosmah said the summit agenda included a plenary session on global and regional business trends, a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) forum, an entrepreneur forum, and practical strategies for growth, skills building sessions and networking opportunities.
