Melaka Chief Minister: Suspend Engineer's Licence PDF Print

Melaka, Wed, 16th Dec - The Melaka government wanted the engineer and
the company which installed the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) suspended for
causing the explosion at Aeon Jusco shopping centre on Monday.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam said he did not want parties
involved and authorities to blame each other as it was clear that there was
negligence in the standard operating procedure (SOP).

"The licence of the engineer and company which installed the gas should be
temporarily suspended," he said after visiting the explosion victims at Melaka
Hospital here today.

Ali who just returned from a working visit to Bali said he was told that
work to remove gas from the main tank was in progress.

The explosion killed one person and injured 20 others, four seriously. The
shopping centre was scheduled for opening tomorrow.
