KUALA LUMPUR, 29 NOVEMBER, 2011: Just 015 Sdn Bhd, Malaysia's latest pre-paid mobile operator, expects to get three million customers by 2013 based on the good response it has seen since entering the market July this year.
Its Executive Chairman, Datuk Paduka Dr Wan Fazil Farid, said the company garnered 7,000 customers within three months of being in the market.
"The pre-paid service which uses 015 has been fully developed by a Bumiputera company and is specially aimed at the lower income group," he told Bernama at the sideline of the Umno Youth Assembly here today.
He said the company's target was reasonable as there were 34 million mobile telephone customers although the country's population was only 28 million.
Wan Fazil said the company, which started its operations in December last year, had spent RM5 million to develop the pre-paid system capable of catering to 10 million customers.
"We are still looking out for investors capable of helping the company expand its business overseas. We need at least RM50 million to expand the wings especially to Indonesia," he said.
Just 015 is a unique product as it does not use the sim card but the film of the existing sim card, while its calls are cheaper than those offered by other existing pre-paid mobile service operators.
"With 015, calls to other pre-paid users cost only 15 sen per minute, which is chepaper compared with other similar cards offering 16-30 sen per minute."
The starter pack costs RM50 and comes with a credit value of RM10.
The company, which is among the operators of small and mid sized industries displaying their products at the Putra World Trade Centre here in conjunction with the Umno General Assembly 2011, is also offering a special limited edition package during the event.
