BESUT, 8 FEBRUARY, 2012: Initially sceptical with Noraini Ismail's "sudden" ability to converse in several foreign languages following a road accident, her family has now accepted it as a blessing.

Noraini's mother, Mansena Daud, 48, said she and other family members were at first worried when her daughter was able to speak in several foreign languages all of a sudden.

She claimed that Noraini was able to converse in Korean, Mandarin and Japanese.

"But, after giving it a deep thought, we accept it as a blessing from God," she said when met at her house here today.

She claimed that her daughter, a Form Five student at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Nasiruddin Shah, converse more in Malay with a Chinese accent since yesterday.

"She'll speak less in Mandarin or Korea if I wake her up from sleep, but if he wakes up on her own, she will speak in a language which I don't understand," she added.

Mansena, a housewife, said that Norani's behaviour had also changed after the accident.

"Previously, she was like a tomboy, but now she is more feminine and have more respect for older people.

"She no longer likes to eat 'budu' (a type of fish sauce) and petai, as she used to, and prefer to drink soya bean," she added.

Noraini's behaviour changed after she was involved in road accident last January 10.

She was riding pillion on her brother, Jefri's motorcycle, when a lorry crashed into them at the Alor Lintang traffic light junction at about 2.30pm.

Noraini fell and was in a coma for 11 hours at the Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital in Kubang Kerian, Kelantan. She was discharged from the hospital three days after regaining consciousness.

However, she was rushed back to the hospital on the fifth day when she complained of headache and could not talk, and while undergoing treatment, she began to talk in a foreign languages, which the family claimed were Korean, Mandarin and Japanese.
