SANTUBONG, 8 FEBRUARY, 2012: The Sarawak Cultural Village (KBS) here is offering a special homestay package at Rumah Bidayuh from May 18 to June 23, this year.
Sarawak Tourism Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg said the package was in line with the aim of introducing the culture of the Dayaks in Sarawak specifically the Bidayuh during the Dayak Gawai Day celebration every June 1.
"We want to share the culture of the dayak communities with others specifically foreign tourists," he said in his speech at the pre-launching of the Gawai Dayak Special Package at the Bidayuh House, renovated at a cost of RM5 million here, today.
He said the package could be booked through appointed agents at RM399 a person (two days/one night) to RM599 a person (four days/three nights). He said the homestay was among the efforts of the Sarawak Tourism Ministry with the cooperation of Malaysian Tourism to attract more tourists to KBS after successfully luring 140,000 visitors last year.
