KLANG, 8 FEBRUARY, 2012: Two men were charged at the Magistrate's Court here today with murdering a lorry driver whose body was found lying slumped in a chair outside a temple here last month.
M.Kalimurali, 28 and K.Mailvagam, 42, together with another man still at large, are accused of murdering Pajan Singh, 55, outside the Periyachikali Aman temple in Simpang Lima, Jalan Langat here at around 3.30pm on Jan 23.
They were charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code which carries the mandatory death sentence, if convicted.
Kalimurali, a mechanic, and Mailvagam, security guard, nodded that they understood the charge when it was read out to them by a court interpreter.
However, no plea was recorded.
Magistrate Hurman Hussain fixed April 11 for re-mention whilst awaiting the post-mortem report.
Deputy public prosecutor Puteri Iskandariah Md Tahir appeared for the prosecution while both accused were not represented.
Prior to this, newspapers had reported that Pajan Singh was found dead at the scene at around 7.30am on Jan 24. The accused are alleged to have murdered him before running off with his car.
The duo were stopped by police in Taman Berkeley the night of the murder and were initially detained for car theft.
The post-mortem found the victim's left ribs to be fractured and the pathologist suspected that he was murdered.
