PETALING JAYA, 28 FEBRUARY, 2012: A man sustained injuries on his left rib when several men shot him while he was waiting for his child to finish school outside Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan La Salle, Jalan Templer in Taman Gasing, here today.
Petaling Jaya Police Chief ACP Arjunaidi Mohamed said the 36-year-old victim was in his Proton Wira Aeroback car when several men on motorcycles approached him and fired six shots in the incident at noon.
"Two shots hit him while the rest pierced his car. The injured victim then sped off in his car for about six kilometers before crashing into a lamp post and a four-wheel drive Mitsubishi Pajero," he told reporters at the scene.
He said the victim has been sent to the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) for treatment and is now reported stable.
He added the victim is currently involved in a hearing for a robbery case in court, here.
Arjunaidi said the police are investigating the case under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder, and will obtain statements from witnesses at the scene.
