PASIR GUDANG, 28 APRIL, 2012: Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin has reminded undergraduates that the political freedom they enjoyed did not give them immunity against violation of laws when participating in illegal assemblies.

He said a court order has declared Dataran Merdeka in Kuala Lumpur out of bounds to participants of a gathering organised today by a non-governmental organisation backed by opposition political parties.

"The undergraduates must understand that the gathering does not have the permission of the authorities. They will be subjecting themselves to action should they violate any law," he told reporters here.

Mohamed Khaled also said that the undergraduates can be penalised by their institutions of higher learning for any misconduct that can tarnish the image of the institutions.
