SIK, 27 JANUARY, 2012: Feeling cheated as Pas has failed to live up to its slogan, two Pas leaders in Teloi Timur left the party and today applied to join Umno.
To Shahril Yahya, 45, and Roshdi Sobri, 35, Pas has deviated from its original struggle for Islam and has now become a tool for the DAP and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR).
Shahril, the former Teloi Timur information chief, and Roshdi, the former division secretary, hence decided to quit the party together with over 200 former Pas members and supporters.
Shahril said he regretted and was disappointed that while the 13th general election was approaching near, Pas failed to carry out its promises as listed in its 2008 general election manifesto.
"Until today, PAS, especially in Kedah, failed to fulfil its promises to the people and to continue with its original struggle for Islam as an Islamic party," he said.

Roshdi, who represented the group, handed over their application forms to become Umno members to Felda chairman Tan Sri Isa Abd Samad at the Teloi Timor Felda scheme.
Roshdi said Pas had lost its direction and aim by teaming up with DAP and PKR whose struggles were different from Pas'.
The group urged their family members and friends who are still in Pas to leave the party as they see its struggle to be clearly empty.
Also present was Sik Umno division chief, Datuk Mohd Tajuddin Abdullah.
