Restaurant Worker Found Dead in Rented Room with Stab Wounds

KUALA LUMPUR, 27 JANUARY, 2012: A restaurant worker, believed to be an Indonesian woman, was found dead with stab wounds in her rented room at a two-storey shop lot along Jalan Radin Anum 1, Sri Petaling, here today.
      
Brickfields Police Chief Wan Abdul Bari Wan Abdul Khalid said the victim, known as Kurnani, 46, was found by her brother at about 4pm.

"Her brother had come to the shop lot where his sister rented a room on the top floor of the shop lot which has 19 rooms. The door was locked from inside and when he knocked there was no reply," he told reporters at the place of the incident.
    
Wan Abdul Bari said her brother later used a ladder to pip inside the room and was shocked to find Kurnani sprawled on the floor in a pool of blood.
    
He later contacted the police at 4.45pm.
    
Police found her jewellery missing while the body was sent to the University Malaya Medical Centre for a post-mortem.
    
According to a colleague of the victim, Kurnani who has been working at a restaurant for the past 10 years and scheduled to start work tomorrow after the Chinese New Year holidays, was wearing her jewellery when she went to the bank at 11.30am today.
    
"Kurnani who is a widow has five children and they live in Indonesia with her family," he said.
