SIBU, 28 JANUARY, 2012: A total of 23,901 households from five state constituencies here will receive a total of RM11.9 million under the 1Malaysia People's Aid (BR1M), Local Government and Community Development Minister Datuk Sri Wong Soon Koh said.

The constituencies are Bawang Assan, Bukit Assek, Dudong, Pelawan and Nangka.

He said the distribution of the BR1M cash vouchers would be held in three phases and urged the recipients to be patient, saying that the process had just begun.

So far about 17,000 had yet to collect their vouchers, he told reporters after witnessing the distribution of the vouchers at the compound of the Civic Centre here today.

He said similar distribution would held from Monday to Friday at the Sibu Town Square.

Meanwhile, he advised those concerned not to be despair or be angry with the government if they were unsuccessful in their applications.

"You will get it as long as you are qualified. Everyone can still appeal as the last date to do so is on Feb 10," he said, adding that they could do so at the Inland Revenue Board office or visit the BR1M website to re-apply.
