KANGAR, 1 FEBRUARY, 2012: Teachers, especially in Perlis, must not fall for the lies spread by certain quarters who are trying to topple the government for their personal interests.

The reminder was given by Perlis Mentri Besar Datuk Dr Md Isa Sabu, who said that as professionals and intellectuals, teachers should always be at the frontline and aware of the government's focus on education.

"I don't want teachers to fall for the lies spread by those who are trying to shake the government. Let us stay away from the lies, which are not only useless, but also damaging for the soul," he said after delivering a 2012 new year message to Perlis Education Department here yesterday.

Md Isa said as a very influential group, teachers should also understand all policies implemented by the government, especially those concerning the national education system.

"The existing government has put the interest of the children above anything else. The recent distribution of the RM100 schooling aid for students also proved that the government is fair," he said.

At the same time, the mentri besar also called on all teachers to continuously improve their knowledge and do some self-reflection and soul searching to see whether they had done enough to face the ever-changing challenges in their profession.
