KUALA LUMPUR, 3 FEBRUARY, 2012: Wanita members were today reminded to remain loyal to the party leadership and focus on preparing for the coming general election amid the differing views on handling the issue involving the wing's leader, Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil.

Wanita Umno vice-chief Datuk Kamilia Ibrahim said in a statement today that any leadership problem that could destabilise the party should be resolved fast and wisely to avoid disunity in the party.

She said as party members, they should also place their responsibility above their own interest so as not to burden the party.

Hence, she urged Wanita Umno members to set aside emotions, to close ranks and strengthen their spirit for the sake of Umno and Barisan Nasional's (BN) struggle in maintaining political stability in the country.

Kamilia said as a party wing, Wanita Umno had a huge responsibility of ensuring victory for BN in the coming 13th general election.

Shahrizat, who is Women, Family and Community Development Minister, is on three weeks' leave since Jan 13 while the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission investigates whether she was involved or not in any government decision made on the National Feedlot Corporation (NFCorp) which is headed by her husband, Datuk Seri Dr Mohamad Salleh Ismail.
