JELEBU, 6 FEBRUARY, 2012: The public is increasingly tired of the opposition's wild allegations and critisicm against the government's various aid programmes for the people, said Information, Communications and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim.

He said the people were now smarter; they wanted proof for the allegations and criticism which the opposition failed to provide, hence the people had become increasingly supportive of the government.

"While there is no proof (from the opposition), the Barisan Nasional (BN)government is seen as caring and this has now a place in the hearts of the people and which is difficult for the opposition to prevent."

Rais said this after handing out the Bantuan Rakyat 1Malaysia (BR1M) or 1Malaysia People's Aid to 280 recipients in Simpang Durian, here, today.

He said the government provided various forms of aid such as the RM100 schooling aid for each pupil which the opposition had become envious about, so they spewed wild allegations and lies against the BN government and its aid programmes.

Rais said looking at the opposition's track record nationwide, they failed to provide aid or contributions like what the BN government had.

"So, if it's only rhetorics coming from (Datuk Seri) Anwar Ibrahim, we regret this as the people should no longer be hoodwinked by empty promises.

"We challenge the opposition to show if they are really capable of coming out with other forms of welfare aid.

"Pas said it would set up a welfare state, but I've not seen them giving the people anything other than confusion from their many ceramah," Rais said.
