PETALING JAYA, 8 FEBRUARY, 2012: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) today made a further disclosure on the misuse of the National Feedlot Corporation (NFC) funds by the family of Minister for Women and Family Development, Datuk Seri Shahrizat Jalil.

..Its Strategic Director, Rafizi Ramli said, based on the information he received, Shahrizat’s family has received funding from Maybank to buy a luxury condominium in Singapore.

Based on that information, Rafizi said he has worked with Malaysians in Singapore as well as a private investigator to identify the condominium units purchased by the family of Shahrizat.

“The investigation confirmed that Shahrizat’s family has bought two more units of luxury condominiums in the Marina Bay Suites in Singapore,” said Rafizi.

“The two units are located close to a luxury restaurant that is owned and operated by her (Shahrizat) family in Singapore, that is the Brawn Steakhouse,” he added.

Rafizi said, the financing for the purchase of two condominium units amounting to RM34, 562,784.00 is believed to be approved by the bank as a matter of reciprocity as the NFC and the companies belonging to Shahrizat’s family has a large deposit which according to Rafizi, is part of the RM250 million that was funded to NFC.

“The purchase of two luxury condominiums in Singapore is another evidence of how the funds of RM250 million has been used for personal purposes to accumulate wealth.

“The question is how her family could afford the monthly payment that is so huge?” asked Rafizi.

Rafizi estimated that for 25 years, Shahrizat’s family has to pay RM173, 000 per month for both condominiums.

“There is risk of the occurrence of irregularities in NFC’s fund management as it is impossible that (Dato’ Seri)Salleh (Shahrizat’s husband) and his son have a very high-income to settle the monthly debt to banks involved,” said Rafizi.

He said there is possibility that the public funds amounting to RM250 million given to NFC has been distorted to Shahrizat’s family’s companies in Singapore to cater the repayment of purchased condominiums.

He said the latest disclosure have made the total number of funds that has been distorted by Shahrizat’s family to RM62 million.
