Himpunan Hijau 2.0: Police Yet to Issue Permit

KUANTAN, 23 FEBRUARY, 2012: Police have yet to decide whether to grant a permit to 'Himpunan Hijau 2.0' who planned to hold an assembly in Kuantan on Sunday.


Kuantan OCPD ACP Mohd Jasmani Yusof said the police would hold a meeting with the organizers tomorrow regarding the matter.

"We had sent a letter to the organizers to hold a meeting last Wednesday but due to certain factors, the meeting was postponed to tomorrow," he said when contacted, here today.

Meanwhile, Kuantan Municipal Council (MPK) Public Relations Officer Haslinda Hassan said the council would also not issue the permit to the organizers who planned to hold the assembly at the Padang MPK1, Kuantan in case they had received approval from the police earlier.

The 'Himpunan Hijau 2.0' masterminded by a certain group aimed to protest the operations of Lynas Advance Material Plants, the company that had been given a license to operate temporarily.
