KANGAR, 28 FEBRUARY, 2012: A group of men broke into the Perlis Mufti's office at the Datuk Mahmud Mat Building here in broad daylight yesterday, but no personnel were injured.

Perlis Mufti, Dr Juanda Jaya said the group of six or seven men, all below the age of 40, were believed to be a member of a deviant sect which was not satisfied with his statement relating to the Qardiani sect.

Speaking to reporters here, Dr Juanda said he was not in the office during 12.30pm incident as he was attending an Islamic education convention at the 2020 Hall here.

Five office staff present were alarmed when the men broke into the administration section and took pictures and videos without permission, he said.

He believed the incident may be due to an (fatwa) edict issued by the National Fatwa Committee outlawing the sect.
