The graduation day of their children would appear to be the pinnacle moment for any parent, after all their hard work and sacrifice in nurturing them throughout the years.

This was exactly how Marjorie Abdullah felt as she flew from Sarawak, excited to witness the moment her beautiful daughter receives the scroll on stage at Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) in Shah Alam.

But unfortunately for her, she was dismissed from entering her daughter’s graduation for what she was “inappropriately” wearing – pants − which was supposedly against the stated dress code.

“I wasn't supposed to wear pants, but as I was in Sarawak, I didn't see the invitation card my daughter had which had the dress code. They refused to accept my excuse,” she wrote on a comment.

Still a proud moment to be present in, Marjorie positively posted pictures of her daughter and her outside the hall on her Facebook page speaking about the incident, with a caption that read:

Although Marjorie was still able to put up with a smile, her story has now gone viral with 113 shares (and counting) at this time of writing, with many users mocking the way the university handled the situation.

Should we have dress codes for graduation ceremonies? Defeats the purpose of celebrating the moment with your loved ones, especially if they’ve been dismissed. Share with us your thoughts.
