Forget GST, 13 Exciting Shopping Malls Are Opening In The Klang Valley Soon!

It is a well-known fact that Malaysians love to shop. In fact in a list made in 2012 by list25.com (and elaborated further by Malaysian Digest – read here), three shopping malls from our country were listed in the top 10 largest shopping malls in the world.

Since the year that list was created, a few more enormous shopping malls like the IOI City mall in Putrajaya popped up, proving Malaysians’ never-ending love relationship with shopping malls. But whether or not the recently implemented Goods and Services Tax (GST) will have an impact on our shopping habits? It remains to be seen.

And for those living in the Klang Valley who have planned to tone down on their shopping habits (women especially,) you might want to put that thought to hold, as there are more exciting things to look forward to like 13 new shopping malls opening near you! Yes that’s right – 13, and we have a list for you to make as your early directory.

1) Sunway Velocity

Located a mere 3.8km from Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC), Sunway Velocity will span 23 acres of prime freehold land. It will integrate 5 main world class components – V Retail, V Office, V Residence, V Boulevard, and V Garden.

2) Atria Shopping Gallery

Atria – long known as a lifestyle address in Damansara Jaya, its rebirth will lead to its evolvement into a Shopping Gallery and SOFO Suites, believing it will be the catalyst of the area.

3) Da: Mén USJ

Constructed over Giant’s former warehouse in USJ 1, Da Mén (also spelled da: men) will be a mixed commercial and residential development spanning 8.6 acres.

4) Empire City

Empire City is set to become a self-contained city in Damansara where you will be able to enjoy everything from commercial, entertainment to leisure.

5) Sunway Putra Mall

Strategically placed at the vibrant location near Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC), the six-level mall is set to excite shoppers with almost everything they need.

6) Bangsar Trade Centre

Located along the heavily congested Federal Highway, the place that is dubbed to become the next icon in Pantai the area will consist of retail mall, Bangsar Galleria that fits over 200 units of wholesale fashion outlets.

7) Star Avenue Lifestyle Mall

Located along Jalan Sungai Buloh, this mall aims to be a ‘happening place’ as a one-stop shopping, dining, and entertainment go-to for residents in the area.

8) Four Seasons Place Kuala Lumpur

Built right next to the Petronas Twin Towers at a cost of RM2.5 billion, you would expect this place to be nothing less than grand. It will have a total of 150,000 sf of retail mall, a hotel that consists of 150 hotel rooms and 100 serviced apartments, and 140 residential apartments.

9) Selayang Star City

Developed on 7 acres of prime land on Jalan Ipoh, Selayang Star City is expected to be the main attraction of an up-and-coming extension of Kuala Lumpur.

10) Roppongi Cyberjaya

An eco-friendly development located in Cyberjaya, it will be an integrated site comprising of education, residential, commercial, hotel, office, and retail.

11) EVOLVE Concept Mall

Covering and area of 400,000 sq ft in Ara Damansara, EVOLVE Concept Mall challenges and reinvents the traditional shopping experience by breaking the mould of typical retail malls. It target opening date is July this year.

12) Sunway Nexis

The ever-growing township of Kota Damansara is set to see another development from Sunway City. In fact it will be located next to its “elder sibling” – Sunway Giza.

13) Pingat Bazaar

With its surrounding being the well-established, commercial areas in Jalan TAR, Pingat Bazaar hopes its 6 storey-building will be the next eye-catching establishment with 187 retail lots.
