No Problem For DAP To Rule The Country, As Long As It's Not Najib

KUALA LUMPUR: For a desperate man like former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, it no longer matters which political party takes over the country in the future as long as he can remove Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak from office.

Speaking to the media at the Universiti Malaya Alumni Association Club at the press conference held after he signed the 36-point Citizens' Declaration, the longest serving ex-premier admitted that he is willing to allow his one time arch nemesis, DAP, to replace the incumbent ruling party Barisan Nasional (BN).

"We want a clean election. It is the voters' right to vote for the Opposition. I can't stop any party from competing [in the election]," the 91-year-old said in answer to a question from the media whether he had any comment about DAP taking over the prime minister's post if Najib is removed.

Asked if he would join the campaign to express his support towards jailed Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, he remarked, "I'm not campaigning with or for UMNO, I am campaigning for the citizens of this country to remove Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak."

The principles which Tun M holds now are in stark contrast for what he stood for when he helmed the country between 1981 and 2003, which sees him now in desperate partnership with DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang in a bid to unseat UMNO and BN.
