Three transvestites brutally attacked a 44-year-old woman in a residential area in Segamat, after she made passing remarks which angered them.

They left the woman, who is a housewife, with severe injuries – on her head and stomach, while fracturing her left hand.

It was reported by Harian Metro that the trio, aged 20, 24 and 31, were upset by the housewife who accused them of not knowing how to cook nor do housework.

District deputy police chief Dept Supt Yusuf Unis confirmed the incident took place at 5pm, on Tuesday.

He said the trio overheard a conversation between the victim and a neighbour as they were passing by the neighbourhood.

"After listening to the conversation for several minutes, the suspects lost their cool and attacked the victim with slippers and wooden chairs," he clarified.

"Police received information from the public and later traced the three suspects who were on the run and arrested them around Chaah town an hour later," he added.

The victim’s neighbour took her to a clinic in Chaah, but she later received further treatment at the Segamat Hospital.

The case is being investigated under Section 325 of the Penal Code for causing grievous hurt.
