Federal police Commercial Crimes Investigations Department (CCID) director Commissioner Datuk Seri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said CCID personnel and Genting Highlands police managed to trace and arrest the suspect at a house at about 12.30am.

He said police also seized a cellphone and a laptop computer from the man who is suspected of posting insults against the late Kedah Sultan.

He said the suspect is being held under a two-day remand order for investigations.

Acryl said another man is also being sought over a similar offence of allegedly making snide comments on the late Kedah Sultan in a separate case.

He said both men are being probed under laws of the Communications and Multimedia Act of Malaysia.

Acryl advised Malaysians to not abuse the social media by making rude and disparaging comments on others, especially on the royal institution and country's leaders.

He said such comments can cause tension among the public and disrupt peace and order.

"It is an offence and action can be taken against those who make such comments." he said.
